Today is the day! I will begin again. I have committed to writing 500 words a day, every day. The work flow is set, I am motivated, and I want to do this. The habit of writing is something that I have wanted to do for a long long time. This exercise will start me down that path. The path of consistency. It won’t be easy, but I know it will be worth it.
Please excuse the spelling and grammar. This is meant to be an exercise in just showing up. A way to train myself to sit down and write daily. Editing will be done later. This is intended to build muscle memory for the long term.
The Plan is, I will wake up every morning to check my email. I will read the latest post from Jeff Goins. I will be motivated to write. We all know how the best laid plans often fail, and I am sure there will be days when I don’t want to, but I am committed to this. So committed that I am thinking about posting the raw material every day on my blog. As I write this I already have fear coursing through me. The fear of putting myself out there. The fear of looking foolish. I also want to post to the blog so I can have a record of my writing somewhere besides random apps on my devices. I want to start a catalog of my words.
Will posting this horrible piece of writing do anyone any good at all? Who know? It may be that no one even reads this. It may be that everyone who reads it will laugh. More likely it will be that as I write I will improve and become that what I have dreamed of becoming for some time. A writer. I hope that the latter is the case.
I hope that through my struggles and my commitment I will inspire others to do that same. I figure if I can do it, anyone can. I have read about writing with book like Stephen King’s Book [insert details] and blog after blog of how to’s and why’s. The only thing left is to sit down and do it.
Show up and do the work. Write without editing. Write everyday. I’ll share my work flow with you all later when I know what it is, but the short of it is this. Open “Drafts” and write my 500 words. Using the “Drafts” interface and an action I created move the text into Ulysses. Post what I have written to my blog. Edit what I have written another day. Oh I guess I have to set Do Not Disturb to eliminate distractions.
Oh look, the sky outside is blue! The rain has stopped and the sun is out. Isn’t that a perfect affirmation for me. I guess I will close this up for now. Hers’s to a great start and a strong finish!!
